Normal Room is a Web site that lets users submit images of various rooms in their homes. Normal Room has amassed a large collection of designs from countries around the world. I think this is really unique and great resource if you are thinking of redecorating, building a home, setting up your office or studio, or just looking for ideas on how to make your workspace more productive. An interesting observation is the impact children have on the rooms.
Normal Room shows you interior design and home furniture from all around the globe. Search our image database and explore the differences and similarities in architecture and home decoration between people in different countries.
Sometimes things aren’t what they appear to be, and here’s a case in point: the floor of this elevator car is painted to give the illusion that there’s no floor at all. It’s a trompe l’oeil that’s realistic enough to convince the roadrunner that there is indeed a tunnel on the side of the mountain, not just a painting by Wile E. Coyote.
The artists sell the illusion really well, too, where there’s even a sign warning you there’s “work in progress.” After a few people walk in, though, you’ll be able to see the footprints, and the illusion might not be so convincing. But I’d still like to be the first one to step inside. Full-sized pics after the jump. – Charlie White
Turn Your Head takes a digital image of your profile and curves it out of wood. On one level, it’s a little weird, because it looks like you are about to kiss yourself. On another level, it’s unique and intriguing. They look the best when placed next to the model’s face. And it will be a great conversation piece for your next house party.
